1. Can people listen in on my phone calls?
No conversation transmitted across radio frequencies is completely secure. Calls made on analog phones are much more susceptible to being intercepted by scanners. Calls made on digital phones are very difficult to intercept and generally provide secure conversation.
2. What is a scanner?
A scanner is a device that searches radio frequencies for transmissions, and stops when it finds a frequency that is in use so that the channel can be monitored.
3. What is cloning?
Cloning is a crime whereby cell phone numbers are stolen over the radio airwaves and used to make calls which are billed to the phones’ owner. Digital phones are more difficult to clone than analog phones.
4. What should I do if my phone is lost or stolen?
You should call your service provider as soon as possible to have you service temporarily suspended. Waiting to report your loss will give a thief more time to make calls on your phone. If you have phone insurance, you may want to contact your insurance provider to file a claim.
5. Where can I get phone insurance?
Cell phone insurance that covers theft or accidental loss is available form several insurance providers for a minimal fee. For more information, call your carrier’s customer service department or your insurance representative.
6. What is a lock code?
A lock code allows you to electronically lock your phone to prevent unauthorized use.
7. What is my un-lock code?
Your unlock code is generally programmed into the phone at the factory, and varies depending on the manufacturer. You can try entering 123 or refer to your owner’s manual which will explain how to set or change the code.
8. What is my security code?
The security code is generally a six digit code which is set at the factory. Two common codes are 000000 and 123456, however, this code can be changed to six digits of your choice. If you are unable to find the code, call the dealer where you purchased the phone or refer to your owner’s manual.
9. What is a PIN?
The PIN (personal identification number) is a number that allows access to various phone functions. If you’ve forgotten you PIN number, contact your service provider
