1. What does a CLA or car-adapter do?
Car adapters plug into your car’s cigarette lighter and supply power to your phone. The CLA (cigarette lighter adapter) will not increase your phone’s reception power, it simply enables you to talk without draining the phone’s battery. Some CLA’s will also function as a battery charger.
2. What is a hands-free kit?
A hands-free kit allows you to talk on the phone while driving without taking your hands off the wheel. There are two types of hands-free kits. A car kit is a set of accessories that allows you to place your phone in a cradle which is permanently mounted into your vehicle. The second type of hands-free kit is a headset with microphone which plugs into your phone and allows you to hear and speak while leaving your hands free.
3. What is a travel charger?
A travel charger is a compact charger that plugs into a wall outlet. It has prongs that fold away for easy packing and is physically smaller than standard chargers. Travel chargers also provide quicker charge times.
4. Should I buy a case or cover for my phone?
If you’re looking to protect your phone or accessorize it with a stylish cover, you may want to consider a protective case. These cases come in several different styles – with or without clear front panels over the keypad, with or without belt clips and some are waterproof. Another option, for certain models, are interchangeable faceplates. These are available in a wide variety of colours and styles.
5. Do I have to purchase accessories from the company that made my phone?
No. Many after market companies offer a wide range of accessories for cell phones. Some manufacturers do have warranty restrictions if other accessories are used with their phones. You should refer to your users manual for more information.
6. Can I increase my phone’s power?
All hand-held cell phones operate at .6 watts. You can purchase an accessory for certain models of analog phones called a booster kit. A booster kit is installed into a vehicle. It boosts your phone’s power from .6 to 3 watts, dramatically increasing the range of the phone.
