Joining the likes of Samsung and HTC, LG is the latest handset maker to have an Android-based handset in their collection. In a very nonchalant manner, they’ve just showcased their very first Android offering, the LG Etna, in Germany at the IFA 2009.

LG Etna Android phone

We don’t have the full specs on this one yet, but based on the available info, Phandroid reports that it will come with a 3-inch touchscreen display, 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard. Its design looks sort of like the lovechild between Sprint's HTC Hero and the Dream, but kidding aside, it’s actually not that bad at all. Choosing between the current available Android phones out now - the HTC Hero, Dream, Magic, and Samsung Galaxy - from the big names in the industry, the LG Etna will seriously be one of my top picks.

There’s no official announcement yet from LG on how much, when exactly, and where this will be released, but considering that it was displayed at the Vodafone booth at IFA, it’ll most likely be available from the said carrier as far as Europe is concerned. With LG now officially on-board the Android bandwagon, the whole Android mobile phone scene is slowly but surely shifting gears to the next level.
