If you already own a Palm Pre, you may have been able to catch the webOS 1.2 update accidentally leaked on the internet just recently. Unfortunately, if you’re planning to try downloading it now, we’re sorry to tell you guys that it’s already too late as Palm has quickly pulled the plug on this one.

It’s a good thing, though, that those who managed to download it have uploaded these videos of their webOS 1.2-running Palm Pre to the internet to share with the rest of the world, and I must admit, it really is something worth looking forward to.
The most interesting one of all is the LED notifications. This new features allows the gesture area to blink when a new message is received. Aside from that, copy/paste functionality in the browser now allows you to select both text and graphics as well as copy and save the URL. webOS 1.2 also boasts of improved zoom on text-entry fields, email searching, and generally provides faster performance.
So, like what you see so far? We sure do, but with the good news, there’s also the bad news. BGR notes that a remote application removal tool was also spotted in webOS 1.2. This basically allows Palm to remove any app from the App Catalog and from your device as well. If the app removed from you device is a paid one, a corresponding refund will be issued. It’s a little too invasive, isn’t it?
Anyway, with webOS 1.2 yet to become official, this leakage could be a blessing in disguise. Maybe Palm will now reconsider including the remote app removal feature once they do decide to officially release webOS 1.2 to the public. Or maybe not, but we’re definitely keeping our fingers crossed with this one. How about you guys? What’s your stand on this remote app removal tool?
