Way back in June, Anandtech provided use with a very informative comparison between the newly released iPhone 3G S and its contemporaries in the market, namely the Palm Pre, T-Mobile G1, and its iPhone 3G predecessor. Based on their findings, the iPhone 3G S is clearly head and shoulders above the rest as it outperformed the competition in terms of speed in most of the tasks involved.
Well, now that that the Palm Pre is now also available in Canada, MobileSyrup has graciously come out with a comparison of their own pitting Palm’s latest smartphone against the iPhone 3G S and has documented it on video for everyone to enjoy. Apart from the physical difference, the iPhone 3G S, for the most part, appeared to be the faster one when it came to internet surfing though it really depends on which site your trying to access as the Palm Pre can open some sites faster than the iPhone. The Palm Pre, however, was clearly the snappier device as far as switching from landscape to portrait mode was concerned, and one thing that users will surely appreciate in Palm’s new device is the support for multitasking. As far as battery life is concerned, the iPhone lasted hours longer than the Palm Pre.
After watching the video, which one would we recommend? It’s really hard to choose between the two, and it will actually all boil down to what you really need. Both are exceptional devices, but the salient differences between the two will ultimately determine which one is really meant for you. If you find it hard to use an onscreen keyboard and prefer a traditional QWERTY-keypad, then the Palm Pre is definitely for you. However, if you can live without the physical QWERTY keypad and you love slim and sleek devices, you certainly can’t go wrong with iPhone 3G S.
So, how about you guys? Taking everything you’ve seen, heard, and read into consideration, what will it now be – the iPhone 3G S or the Palm Pre?
