Veering away from the usual press release, Samsung announced via Facebook the list of countries that will be getting the new Omnia II in August. That’s the good part.

Samsung Omnia II

The bad news is that neither the US nor Canada was included in the short list. 14 countries namely the Philippines, Thailand, Netherlands, Turkey, UAE, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Nigeria, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Chile, Colombia, and Australia will all have their respective Samsung Omnia II launches in August. They will be joining the likes of Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam who already have the Omnia 2 available locally.

Considering that the Omnia 2 has already been approved by the FCC, we were hoping that it wouldn’t be long before we see this baby hits the North American scene, but it appears though that the contrary is true. Oh well, let’s just keep our fingers crossed that the US and Canada will be included in the next batch of Omnia 2 launches.
