Samsung unveils S9110 watch phone

The rivalry between Samsung and LG is certainly heating up. With both manufacturers almost matching toe-to-toe as far as touchscreen phone models are concerned, Samsung now takes aim at the LG GD910 watch phone with the announcement of their S9110 watch phone.

The Samsung S9110 may not come with HSDPA connectivity unlike the LG GD910, but it does feature a very slim form factor measuring only a mere 11.98mm in thickness easily making it the thinnest watch phone to date. Aside from that distinction, it also boasts of a 1.76-inch scratch-resistant touchscreen display, voice recognition, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, e-mail support and a built-in music player. The body is made of stainless steel, as most high quality watches are these days, and the strap is made of leather.

The Samsung S9110 will be released in France this month for a reasonable price of €450 or $640 in US currency, and will roll out in other countries thereafter. If you think it’s somewhat expensive, it’s actually not that bad considering you’ll be getting a very stylish watch phone. More importantly, it’s certainly cheaper than what LG has on their side of the fence.

How about you guys? What do you think of Samsung’s watch phone offering?

It is incredible that anyone would pay $700.00 for a cell phone whether it is worn on the wrist or the belt. In a couple of years cell phones will sell for about what they cost, $20.00 to $30.00, and those foolish enough to pay these insane prices will kick themselves! This greed of the cell phone marketers will destroy the market, for people will just turn to something more sensibly priced.

  2. Scott R says:

Not only is the price outragous but the fact that you have to find a way to put your wrist to your ear or take off the watch could be a bit difficult.
