The LG Cookie was launched almost the same time as the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic in October of last year, and even though the Nokia’s touchscreen baby has managed to ship over 6.8 million units to date, LG’s affordable touchscreen phone is doing a pretty decent job keeping in step with the mobile phone giant.

LG, for their part, has now announced that they’ve sold over 5 million units of the Cookie worldwide. It was just last April when they disclosed they had already shipped 2 million Cookie phones across the globe, and now, they’ve managed to double that figure in a little over two months period. That’s quite an impressive feat considering that they don’t have the same market reach as Nokia does. It might not be as feature-packed as the 5800 XpressMusic, but its more affordable price has certainly helped in its success.
To date, the LG Cookie is available in 10 color variation including black, white, silver and pink. It’s now out in most parts of Europe and Asia, and from what we hear, is also available on AT&T in the US. Unfortunately, as far as Canada is concerned, no mobile carrier has picked up the LG Cookie as part of their line-up, but there are, however, several online retailers selling the LG Cookie unlocked and ready for use.
