If the new HTC Hero Android phone is a little over the top for your taste and you’re more into the traditional QWERTY-equipped smartphone, the HTC Ozone might just be the one you're looking for.

It’s just been officially announced on Verizon and will retail for $49.99 on a 2-year (after a $70 mail-in rebate) once it’s released on June 29. As far as specs go, there’s nothing exceptionally new in the HTC Ozone. It comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA 24K color display, 2-megapixel autofocus camera with video recording capabilities, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support, dual-band 1xRTT/EV-DO Rev. A, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 256MB ROM/128MB RAM, microSDHC card slot (up to 16GB), 1500 mAh battery, and runs on an aging Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard operating system. It also supports VZ Navigator and Visual Voice Mail which costs $9.99 and $2.99 per month respectively.

The HTC Ozone might not be able to turn heads with its more conventional design and slightly mediocre features (read: 24K color display), but it does come with a lot of specs you’d expect from a modern smartphone. Add to the mix its very affordable price tag, it now looks even more tempting to get.
