Nokia 5800 XpressMusic now Available on Rogers

It’s been in the US market since early this year, and now, it’s Canada’s turn to get some Nokia 5800 XpressMusic goodness by way of Rogers. It’s actually not that surprising that it landed on Rogers’ lap since it was included in the leaked Rogers 2009 line-up.

You can get it for as low as $199.99 on a 3-year contract promo which requires you to also avail of one of their unlimited on-device browsing plans, $15 value pack or $25 value pack. If you’re not interested in the promo, you can likewise get it for $249.99 on a 3-yr contract, $299.99 on a 2-year contract, $349.99 for a single year, and $399.99 outright purchase. In the greater context of things, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is close to being outdated already considering the sheer number of new handsets including but the new and speedier iPhone 3G S that have been announced and released since we first saw this Nokia handset

Nevertheless, Canadian Nokia fan boys out there will be greatly pleased that Nokia’s premiere touchscreen phone is now finally available in the country. With a 3.2-inch touchscreen, 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash, HSDPA connectivity, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a bundled 8GB microSD card, it’s hard to find fault in the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. It’s not yet posted on Roger’s website, though, but you can view it in Nokia Canada’s site. Sure, it’s a little late, but hey, it’s finally here so there’s no need to complain anymore.

why would anyone buy this phone from Rogers for $400, locked, when you can easily buy it unlocked from numerous vendors for less money?

The 5800 is outdated? Its hardware specs are superior to those of the iPhone 3GS in a number of ways:
    - the camera has a flash
    - there’s a front-side camera for video calls
    - you can use bluetooth keyboards with it
    - you can enter text by handwriting
    - the battery is removable
    - you can add, change or remove memory cards (micro-SDHC)
    - you can tether your laptop to it without resorting to jailbreaking
    - it’s got an FM radio built-in

Oh and, its cash price is half that of the iPhone. Outdated? Not so much.
