If you’re a fan of mobile productivity apps, then you’re probably familiar with the Quickoffice bundle. It has been around for quite sometime now and is more commonly associated with the S60 platform. However, they’re now expanding their reach and is also now available for the iPhone as well. Engadget has posted their impressions on this iPhone productivity suite and their quite happy with it.

The Quickoffice Mobile Office Suite for the iPhone basically allows you to create and edit Word files and Excel spreadsheets straight from your iPhone, and includes noteworthy features such as cut/copy/paste, font customization (type, size, color, etc), redo/undo, and even highlighting. You can also view PDF and JPEG files, and it also provides an easy way to email your documents to others. However, you do need a computer and WiFi connection to make this all work. Using either a PC or Mac, you need to first create a folder in which you’ll store all these documents on your iPhone. Click and drag documents into the folder on your computer, and within seconds, it’ll appear on your iPhone.

Unfortunately, creation and editing of folder names is limited to the PC/Mac only and cannot be performed on the iPhone. Likewise, you cannot move documents to and from the email app to Quickoffice as the current policy of Apple prevents 3rd party apps from doing so. MS Office 2007 files aren’t currently supported yet, but it will come soon via a free upgrade. You can read their full take on it here.

So, if you’re convinced that this is the ultimate productivity app you’ve been waiting for, get ready to shell out $19.99 for it. Quickoffice for the iPhone isn’t exactly cheap, but not to worry, it certainly doesn’t hold back in terms of features either.
