While Nokia is reportedly busy dabbling in some weird science to charge your cellphone by harnessing the power from electromagnetic waves, Samsung’s got an alternative charging solution for the here and now.

Introducing the new Samsung E1107 Crest Solar. It actually looks like the Samsung E1100, but flip it over and what you’ll discover is that this one packs a full-sized solar panel. As far as charging it using the suns power is concerned, one hour in the sun can provide 5-10 minutes of extra talk-time. And if sitting in the sun for several hours isn’t your thing, the Crest Solar’s 800mAh battery can be charged the conventional way by connecting it to an AC outlet. Apart from that, it features a 1.52-inch CSTN 128×128 65K color display, dual-band GSM (900/1800MHz), mobile tracker, FM radio, and a built-in flashlight. Safe to say, this isn’t meant for power-users.

Want one? It’s already available in India for 2,799 INR (USD$59) as the Samsung Solar Guru and it’ll start rolling out later this month in Asia, Europe, and Latin America. There’s no mention yet of a North American release, but that’s alright, just as long as Samsung serves up the Blue Earth.
