Do you remember the lightcyle scenes in the movie Tron? Flynn and Tron ride on a grid battlefield against the Master Control Program’s enforcers.
Well, a 19 year old Austrian, Uwe Hermann, has just won the Gold Prize in the International Competition of Cyberarts with his GPS::Tron game creation.
The game uses GPS enabled cell phones, opponents are tracked on the handset as they race to force each other over each others’ previously taken paths. The players can be at the same location or across the globe since the game merely displays each player’s movement on the virtual grid. The game combines GPS, Bluetooth, and GMS or GPRS.
