Showing the rest of the industry and the entire world that they’ve got more devices up their sleeves, Sony Ericsson has just announced two new devices they’ll be offering this year, the Yari and Aino.

The Yari is the one to the left. It’s a slider that features a 2.4-inch display, 5-megapixel autofocus camera, Bluetooth, DLNA, A-GPS, UMTS/HSUPA connectivity, and support’s their PlayNow services, but what truly sets this apart from any of Sony Ericsson previous releases is its gaming capability. The Yari will come with gesture-controlled actions similar to the Wii. We’re not yet completely sure how this approach will work on a mobile phone and its appeal to the public, but it is quite intriguing to say the least. The Yari will begin shipping in Q4 for €400 or roughly $550 (before subsidies) and will come packaged with a 1GB microSDHC card.

The Aino, meanwhile, is that beauty to the right. It packs a decently sized 3-inch touchscreen display and pretty much features the same goodies found on the Yari and ups the ante with an 8.1-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash and image stabilizer, WiFi, and Sony Play Remote support. It’ll ship in Q4 as well and will come bundled with an 8GB microSDHC card. Price is still yet to be known.

Both phones are certainly huge improvements from what we’ve seen them release in the past especially in terms of design. If this is a preview of the many things to come from Sony Ericsson this year, we’re definitely now more optimistic of their chances of staging a comeback in the industry. We’re just hoping that it won’t take them the same length of time to release these new handsets into the market similar to how long it took XPERIA X1 to go on retail.
