Bell Mobility acquires Virgin Mobile Canada
In move that will no doubt change the Canadian mobile telecom scene, Bell Mobility has just announced that they’re now acquiring the remaining 50% of Virgin Mobile that Bell hasn’t owned yet. With this acquisition, Bell will now have full ownership of the Virgin Mobile brand cementing their status as the largest communications firm in Canada.
Virgin Mobile, however, will still continue to operate and exist independent of Bell Mobility. Nonetheless, both Bell Mobility and Virgin Mobile will stand to gain from this latest development as they can now share network infrastructure, and handset acquisitions. In addition to that, with Bell pursuing the acquisition of The Source as well, both brands will also be able distribute their products through this consumer electronics retailer.
Bell has clearly put itself in a very good position to be the dominant telecom company in Canada in the years to come. How will Telus and Rogers respond to Bell’s latest move? That’s what we’ll be keeping an eye out for in the coming months.

Acquisition supports Bell's strategic imperative to Accelerate Wireless
MONTREAL, Quebec, May 7 /CNW Telbec/ - Bell today announced the $142-million acquisition by Bell Mobility of the 50% stake in Virgin Mobile Canada not already owned by Bell, along with an exclusive, long-term licensing agreement with the Virgin Group for continued use of the Virgin Mobile brand in Canada.

While Virgin Mobile Canada will continue to operate independently with distinct branding and its own distribution channels, both Virgin Mobile Canada and Bell Mobility will realize enhanced operational efficiencies from shared network infrastructure, handset acquisition and common distribution in high-traffic retail locations such as The Source.

On a per subscriber basis, the all-cash $142 million purchase price represents a lower cost of acquisition (COA) per subscriber than Bell Mobility's current COA average. The acquisition will have limited impact on Bell Wireless financials in 2009.
Under the terms of the licensing agreement, Bell Mobility retains long-term rights to the Virgin Mobile brand and the benefits associated with such a relationship with the Virgin Group. Virgin Mobile Canada was formed in 2004 as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) jointly owned by Bell Mobility and the Virgin Group. Two months of screw ups with my Virgin Phone.
Frist month I was suppose to be on 200 anytime minutes for $20.00
Ended up on pay as you go and 20 minutes after getting the phone service started my phone was empty of minutes but never used. That was corrected and I was given the aniversary date of July 4.
That has come and gone with me put on pay as you go and again 20 minutes after the money goes in the phone tells me I have to top up with and other $20.
I have been on the phone with your service people every day twice a day and nothing has been resolved. Again this phone is not able to call on or recieve due to lack of top money that I will not pay to get ripped off again.
Nobody wants to do anything even your 48 hour return policy does not work . It has been 5 days and no answer back.
