Shortcovers, the e-book reader app and mobile bookstore for the iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android phone, has been out for two month now, and the Canadian company behind it is quite pleased with its reception in the market so far.

Currently, Shortcovers is being used in 160 countries including the USA, UK, India, Australia, China, and of course, Canada. Over 100,000 people have tried it out with 10,000 of them liking what they have to offer enough for them to register. Average purchase is under $10 USD with the Twilight series and Outliers being the most popular books sold to date. That’s some pretty impressive figures for their first two months in the business.
Michael Serbinis, CIO & EVP of Indigo Books & Music, shares his view on the early success of Shortcovers:
We’re pleased with the response to Shortcovers in just the first two months, and are learning more every day about what our users want out of a mobile destination for ebooks, magazines and newspapers. Far and away, our biggest successes are our global reach and platform diversity. We thought iPhone would dominate downloads, but we’re very popular on Blackberry and Android.
They are, however, not pleased with just releasing a version for the iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry as they are coming out with a Symbian version as well as a Windows Mobile app soon. Shortcovers is clearly determined to extend its reach to every corner of the mobile market. Congratulations, Shortcovers and we’ll be looking for greater things from you in the months to come.
