Just recently, the Sony Ericsson C905 jut got approved by the FCC, and now, here’s yet another Sony Ericsson phone getting the seal of approval for US distribution.

The Hikaru, now better known as the W995, just got approved by the FCC and will join the growing number of 8-megapixel camera phones in the US market. This isn’t Sony Ericsson’s first 8-megapixel phone, but it is the first 8-megapixel equipped Walkman phone from the company. Strangely, though, the FCC approval doesn’t mention the inclusion of 850/1800/1900 MHz WCDMA bands for US 3G usage. This leads us to believe that this could just be a European version being eyed for release in lieu of the actual North American model which comes with US 3G support.

As such is the case, we’re not quite sure which carrier will be offering this new Sony Ericsson Walkman phone as part of their line-up. Anyway, we’ll keep you guys updated once we get more info on the matter.
