Android 1.5 to provide widget support for Developers

android-widgetsOne of the more unique features that Android has that none of its contemporaries have is widget support. Unfortunately, while it was a very interesting prospect at first, it was a very limited feature which developers couldn’t take advantage of. Well, it seems that Google has taken this serious drawback into account as they are now providing widget support for developers in Android 1.5. The latest SDK now gives developers the liberty to create their own widgets with the ability to tweak its appearance and update intervals however they please. This is one huge feature that should have been there from the very beginning, but as the old saying goes, it’s better late than never.

Let’s just hope it doesn’t take Google another six months to release the Android 1.5 update because as it stands, everyone’s now more focused on what Apple has to offer with their rumored new iPhone and the full-featured iPhone OS 3.0 update.
