Nokia is more popularly known for their GSM phones, but they do have their fair share of CDMA phones as well. As a matter of fact, they’ve just had one approved by the FCC for possible distribution in the US.
The Nokia 8202 is a CDMA-based phone that features a dual-slide mechanism (read: Nokia N96 and N85), 2.2-inch 240×320 16M color display, 3-megapixel camera with flash, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, FM radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, and 150MB internal memory expandable via microSD card (up to 16GB). We’re not quite sure what it’s OS will be, but granted that most S60-based phones nowadays belong to the Nseries and Eseries, this probably won’t be one of the exceptions.
Anyway, the good news here is that it has gotten the seal of approval from the FCC. It’s still not certain if Nokia will release this in the North American region for retail, but at least the possibility is not there.
