It looks like Fido is determined to get rid of all of their current iPhone inventory as they are now offering refreshed 3G iPhones for sale. They’ve previously announced that they’ll be depleting their stock of 16GB 3G iPhones, but now, they’re also putting refreshed 8GB 3G iPhones up for sale as well.
What does refreshed mean? Well, those are phones that were returned within 15 days or purchase. Unlike refurbished units that have typically had some defective parts replaced, refreshed units are not modified. However, you only get 6 months warranty as opposed to a full year. Fido is selling the refreshed 8GB iPhone for $149 while the refreshed 16GB is priced at $249 both on a 3-yr contract. You do need to be an existing Fido customer who has been subscribed to a price plan before November 4th, 2008 or on a retention/loyalty plan to take advantage of the offer.
With a new iPhone almost certain to debut this year, is $50 savings on a refreshed iPhone with 6 months warranty worth it? Sure sounds tempting, but if I were you guys, I’d wait for June to arrive first before making any impulse buys.
