AT&T, Apple offers up Contract-Free iPhone 3G

Both AT&T and Apple are now offering the iPhone 3G contract-free. Prior to this official announcement, there have been rumors already circulating that this might happen, but it’s only now that it has become official.

There is a fine print to the contract-free iPhone 3G from AT&T though. You need to be an existing AT&T subscriber already to get it from them, and there’s a limit of one iPhone per client. Safe to say, it’s better to get it from Apple than AT&T. Could this be in preparation for the new iPhone that’s slated to be announced in June? Well, we can only assume at this point.

No word if Rogers will follow suit, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they do offer up the iPhone 3G contract-free as well.
