Samsung has just announced the Xplorer B2100, their latest rugged mobile phone.
It comes with 1.8-inch TFT display, 1.3-megapixel camera with flash, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, quad-band GSM with EDGE connectivity, FM radio with RDS, and 7MB internal memory expandable via microSD card. It’s really not that impressive in terms of specs, but whatever it lacks in features, it more than makes up for it in durability.
The Xplorer B2100 is Military Standard 810F compliant and IP57 certified. This basically means that it’s shock- and dust-proof and can likewise withstand extreme temperatures as well as last p to 30 minutes underwater at a maximum of 1-meter in depth. Safe to say, this is one mobile phone that will be ideal to bring along when you’re roughing it out in the wild outdoors.
The Samsung Xplorer B2100 will be available starting next month in Europe with an unofficial price of 100 Euros or roughly $130 in US currency. That’s actually not bad for a rugged phone, but we have yet to receive word if it will also be made available in the North American region.
