We’re still not quite sure what the whole deal is with Philips and 3G as their latest offering, the X700, continues the tradition of snubbing the modern high-speed data connectivity option.
This new flip phone from Philips comes with a 2.4-inch 262K internal color display, 2-inch QVGA external display, 3.2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0, FM radio with RDS, and quad-band GSM connectivity. Battery life lives up to the Xenium name with up to 720 hours stand-by time and up to 450 minutes talk-time. If not for the lack of 3G, this could be a handset worth investing in, but sad to say, Philips insistence to gut it out with GSM just makes it seem like a regular run-of-the-mill underwhelming device.
The Philips Xenium X700 is expected to debut soon in select European market such as Russia, Romania, and Turkey with a rumored price of €170 or $220. It doesn’t look like it’ll hit the US market anytime soon though we’re not completely shutting the door on the possibility of it crossing the Atlantic Ocean.
