We already know that Samsung had quite a remarkable run last year managing to grab the #2 spot in the global mobile phone scene, but their impressive performance doesn’t just end there.
Aside from consistently being #1 in Canada for Q3 and Q4 of 2008, Samsung also now lays claim to owning 25% of all touchscreen phones in the market today. More specifically, the Samsung Omnia i900 has 18% of the smartphone market in Germany, 17% in France, and a still respectable 15% in Italy. The Samsung F480 also continues to be quite a cash cow as they still ship, at the very least, 500,000 units a month despite it being a bit outdated already. Of course, their dominance in the touchscreen phone industry is largely a result of their continuous effort to flood the market with touchscreen phones which, to this day, remain unmatched even by runner-up LG.
Apple may have started the whole touchscreen craze with the iPhone, but it seems that Samsung is reaping many of the benefits at the moment.
