It certainly took MetroPCS quite a while, but now, they are finally offering a BlackBerry phone in the form of the Curve 8330.
The price of the MetroPCS BlackBerry Curve 8330 is pegged at $449 and will initially be available in Best Buy stores with it slowly rolling out to other retail channels by the end of the month. This is the first BlackBerry phone to be made available on the MetroPCS network, but unfortunately, AWS won’t be supported so don’t go looking for this one to be outed in AWS-powered areas. Of course, you can get the Curve 8330 a whole lot cheaper on Virgin Mobile, but hey, it’s MetroPCS’ first venture into the BlackBerry market so we’ll cut them some slack.
With new telecoms such as MetroPCS now starting to offer BlackBerry phones and RIM’s new partnership with U2, things are pretty much looking on the upside for RIM. If this trend continues through out the entire year, then we’re pretty optimistic of RIM’s chances to stretch their lead against Apple, making 2009 a break-out year for the Canadian company.

This phone is aight buh dnt u think costs too much?? I mean wat if nobody buys it??! Dis is like the highest priced phones yall ever gave out. I mind as well make the price go lower so more ppl can get it.
i love a balckberry becasuev i getting one towrrow i can,t wait to get it and i am going to be so exiced to get it
Taking a look at MetroPCS today and it seems like the prices have been lowered in an incentive to get more folks onto the BlackBerry with them. I am not sure when the price dropped but coincidentally, Boost mobile is also now offering a prepaid BlackBerry at a similar price point.
I was with MetroPCS for a while but had a few billing irregularities that prompted me to head for the hills. I enjoyed their service and had no real complaints so it was definitely unfortunate.
I like the thought of Boost mobile offering flat rates for unlimited services for specific periods of time. Now that MetroPCS is planning something similar as reported here:

It may be time to give them another shot. I am not sure anyone can compete with Straight Talk in my area at the moment so only time will tell if MetroPCS is able to impress enough to win back my business.
