Garmin’s alliance with Asus may have gotten the attention of most people at the start of 2009, but that doesn’t mean fellow GPS manufacturer Mio is out of the race. As a matter of fact, Mio has their new Explora K70 primed and ready for CeBIT happening next week.

The Mio Explora K70 comes with a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, 3-megapixel autofocus camera, quad-band GSM, tri-band HSDPA/HSUPA, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and has Windows Mobile 6 running the show. It also features a jog dial which can be used for quick scrolling. It will be offered in two SKUs when it’s released into the market; a handset only package, and a full one that includes a car charger, device mount, and other goodies for road warriors. Further details regarding its price and availability will probably be made known when it is officially unveiled at CeBIT.

It’s certainly took Mio a while before they came out with a follow-up to their Leap K1 touchscreen GPS phone, but judging how impressive the Explora K70 looks in appearance and on paper, the long wait was well worth it.
