Nokia 5800 XpressMusic hitting the US on February 26?

Most of the news coming out as of late all relate to the upcoming Mobile World Congress, but here’s a bit of an update from one of the big announcements made last year, the Nokia 5800 XPressMusic phone.

While the Nokia Chicago and New York flagship stores have been selling unlocked Euro versions of the 5800 XpressMusic for quite a while now, the Nokia Blog reports that the North American version of Nokia’s touchscreen phone is slated to arrive on February 26 in the US with a MSRP price of $399. This, of course, isn’t final as taxes and subsidies will still be applied once major networks start offering it as part of their lineup.

This is certainly good news to hear though the price is somewhat of a disappointment. Nonetheless, we’re holding off any premature celebrations at the moment until we actually see it go on sale in the US. The bigger question on our mind now is; with the Mobile World Congress happening next week, will consumers still be enticed to buy the 5800 XpressMusic or will they just put off making any hasty purchases for the time being in order to save up for the new phones that’ll be debuted at the said event?
