Yahoo One Phone a No Go according to new CEO

Those hoping for Yahoo phone to become available soon will be disappointed to know that the new CEO, Carol Bartz, has nixed the project. Dubbed as the Yahoo One Phone, the collaborative effort with Motorola and AT&T now faces an uncertain future thanks to reception that the prototype got from Bartz’s daughter.

According to reports, Bartz was already apprehensive about the whole Yahoo One Phone idea, but after seeing her daughter opt to go for her own mobile phone after playing around with the prototype, that was enough for Bartz to pull the plug on the project. Furthermore, it’s also rumored that a top Yahoo mobile executive left as a result of the incident with several others getting sacked in the process. While Yahoo flatly denies the whole incident, they refuse to comment on the project. Motorola and AT&T also did not respond to inquiries regarding the Yahoo One Phone.

While there’s no way to tell if the Yahoo One Phone is really that bad to begin with, Bartz decision to not go forward with the prototype might just have saved the company from an epic fail. Considering that the youth these days are a great barometer as to how successful a mobile phone can be, her daughter’s snubbing of the prototype might be a good indication of how the present market will accept the Yahoo One Phone.

Nonetheless, we’re still keeping our fingers crossed that the whole project hasn’t been completely shut down. We’re hoping that they’ll just fix what needs to be fixed and come out with an even better prototype that her daughter will be more inclined to use which will, in turn, persuade Bartz to give the Yahoo One Phone the go signal.
