Some of you might have been holding out on updating your iPhone firmware to 2.2.1 so as to preserve its jailbreak and unlocking state, but worry no more, the iPhone Dev Team has release iPhone 2.2.1 Jailbreak to address this latest firmware from Apple.
They do note, however, that if you plan to unlock your iPhone, you shouldn’t use QuickPwn, or update using the official ipsw file/iTunes update process without using Pwnage Tool. This is because by doing the usual update, you upgrade your iPhone’s baseband in the process which is currently not supported by YellowSnow. So, essentially, what you need to do is upgrade to firmware 2.2.1, but retain the old baseband settings. It’s quite a tedious process especially if you plan to use your iPhone on a different networks, but if its plain jailbreak your planning to do, then you shouldn’t worry about the baseband issue.
The full iPhone 2.2.1 Pwnage tool is now available for Mac users, while QuickPwn has been update to version 2.2.5-2 for Windows users. For more details, you can check out the iPhone Dev Team’s blog post regarding their latest release.
