If you’re a T-Mobile G1 owner and you’re considering on getting the MemoryUp Personal app to speed up your Android phone’s performance, you might want to pass on that download.
Numerous reports have come in of G1 owners loosing their data as a result of the MemoryUp app. The app promises to optimize memory and speed of Android, but I guess someone forgot to mention that what they meant by ‘optimize memory’ is actually delete user data. Various reports ranging from cleared SD cards to wiped out contact lists have trickled in which is enough to consider this bit of news as more than just an isolated case. So let this be a warning; be careful what you download from the Android Market.
Apparently, Google isn’t as stringent and careful as Apple is when it comes to hosting apps in their own app store.
