If you still think that QWERTY the keypad isn’t the current trend, then maybe the upcoming Nokia 5730 XpressMusic phone will be able to convince you.
Being an XpressMusic phone, one can’t help but wonder why Nokia even bothered to bundle it with a QWERTY keypad. If it’s an E-series phone then that wouldn’t be surprising at all, but an XpressMusic phone? Anyway, aside from the slide-out QWERTY keypad, the Nokia 5730 also comes with a 2-inch QVGA display, Bluetooth, GPS, EDGE connectivity, and the Symbian S60 as its OS. For more pics and details, you can check out Mobile-Review for their extensive preview of the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic phone.
It’s expected to become available in the European market for €220 or $289 in US currency this April. No word though on an international release, but just the same, don’t be surprised to find a Nokia QWERTY-packing XpressMusic phone become available locally in the future. With the way things are going, it seems that QWERTY keypads are fast becoming a regular staple in mobile phones similar to how touchscreen displays are now a common feature in today’s phones.

i agree. strange to see a QWERTY keypad on a “music” phone. perhaps the engineers misread “MIDI” as “QWERTY”.
