This leaked internal document is confirmation that the 3G iPhone will indeed go on sale at Walmart stores across US.
It will be retailing for $2 less the original price, $197 for the 8GB and $297 for the 16GB, and will be available starting December 28th. Of course, you still need to sign up with AT&T for at least 2 years to take advantage of those prices. Unfortunately, this latest bit of news also debunks a rumor that’s been floating around the net that a $99 4GB variant was going to be released at Walmart. It was too good to be true anyway.
While this latest partnership might bold well with frequent customers of Walmart, I wonder who will still bother to go out and get one when AT&T just brought back online ordering with home activation. Sure, it’s cheaper by $2 but is it worth it?
