Aside from unveiling their new flagship phone, the N97, Nokia has also launched Nokia Messaging. It’s their new email and IM solutions application for Nokia devices.
Nokia Messaging allows users to connect to online email clients and IM services such as Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Messenger, Gmail and Google Talk just to name a few. Likewise, the online portal Mail on Ovi was also introduced giving consumers the ability to create and access Ovi email accounts using their PC. Mail on Ovi comes with 1GB storage capacity and features spam filters and the ability to access various other Ovi services. Similarly, Nokia Messaging also supports Mail on Ovi.
Nokia Messaging will be commercially be available in early 2009 in Finland, UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Singapore, Australia and Venezuela. Other countries will follow thereafter. An S40-based version is also expected to be released in the 2nd half of 2009. The full press release can be found here.
For now, Nokia Messaging is free to download but only works on select handset models.
