BlackBerry Javelin now (Sort of) Available on Rogers

Those waiting for the BlackBerry 8900 Curve, more commonly referred to as the Javelin, might not have to wait until next year after all.

Apparently, Rogers has quietly launched the 8900 for $179.99 on a 3-yr contract with a voice and data plan of $45 or more, $499.99 on a 2-yr contract with data plan, $524 for 2 years with no data, and $549 for a single year or month-to-month. The bad news is that shortly after this news broke, the device was already appearing as out-of-stock. This begs the question: is the BlackBerry 8900 Curve a really popular phone or is Rogers just taking orders for a device that they have yet to receive?

Anyway, we’ll probably hear an official announcement from Rogers pretty soon. For now, you can take your chances with a competent Rogers customer service representative who might be willing to take your order and place you on a priority list when the new stock of the Javelins arrive. If not, you can wait for the official launch which, in light of this recent development, we’re hoping will happen before Christmas.
