As the old adage goes – it’s better late than never, and I can’t find a more well-suited line than this to describe the official announcement that the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 is finally being released in the US.
It will be available via Sony stores starting November 28th, but you can pre-order one beginning November 13th. If you remember, the XPERIA X1 was unveiled way back at the beginning of the year and now it’s almost the end of 2008. That’s one mighty long wait for a mobile phone. Anyway, for what it’s worth, at least they made in time for the holiday shopping rush.
So, how much will a touchscreen-enable QWERTY-equipped Windows Mobile-powered device from Sony Ericsson cost? $800. Is that a reasonable price for you? That’s pretty close to the rumored selling price at Best Buy, but remember, this is still a carrier-free price. Look for it to go down substantially once telecoms pick this baby up as part of their holiday offering.
