Rogers Official BlackBerry Pearl 8220 Flip price pegged at $49.99 (3-yr contract)

Finally, an answer to our prayers. With all the confusion surrounding the price of the BlackBerry Pearl 8220 Flip, Rogers has cleared the air and here’s their official announcement:

The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 smartphone will be available in black from Rogers starting November 4, from $49.99 with activation on any combination of 3 year voice and data plan with minimum combined monthly service fee of $35 per month from Rogers. Some conditions apply. The pink BlackBerry Pearl Flip will be available in the coming weeks.

So I guess Future Shop was spot on with their pricing. However, if the 3-year contract is turning you off, you may want to consider getting it from Best Buy Mobile. It’s $300 more expensive, but hey, at least you’re free from the contract shackles, right?

Take it from me, this is a crock!

Back around the end of December ‘08 my Nokia cell had died after a long 3 years. Rogers told me I could get a free upgrad.
I checked it out, and the guy at the Rogers store told me that it is a better deal to just get the Blackberry at the stated above deal on a 3 yr contract.
Well I figured I already went 3 years with Rogers and was quite happy, so why not, it sound like a great deal.
I signed on the doted line, and away I went with my new Blackberry.
About 3 weeks later I get my Rogers bill………
    $800.00+ !!!!!!!
I was, to say the least, PISSED!
I called them and said there has to be a mistake, they said no.
In the long run it took me 3 months to clear it up….well sort of, I still ended up paying $300.00 for the phone and then a penilty of $100.00 was added because I wanted to remove certain things like texting and email that I did not ask for in the first place!
I don’t use that stuff with a cell.
After complaining for the 3-4 months…… i just recently had them remove the $100.00 charge from my bill. During this time I did had my services suspended because of the high bill that Rogers caused in the first place! I could not afford it!
I still have the Blackberry, it is a great phone for someone technically inclined .
I am looking for another service provider.
