Sure, the HTC G1 Android phone has a touchscreen interface and a marketplace where you can download a variety of 3rd party applications. But for business folk, the lack of Exchange sync support might be a deal breaker. It’s a good thing though that we’ve got a very reliable community of developers who are more than willing to take up the challenge of plugging up holes in the Android OS.
Wrike and Intermedia have come up with the ContactSync app which allows G1 users to sync their contacts wirelessly with an Exchange server. It’s still in its early stages and only allows one-way syncing, but future versions will include full two-way syncing without duplication of contacts.
Although the G1 is not yet available outside the US market, we figure that news of ContacySync’s existence will be enticing to those of you who are thinking of waiting for the G1 to arrive.
