BlackBerry Storm on Rogers?

Aside from waiting for its release, folks are also keeping a close eye on who will offer the BlackBerry Storm in Canada. Bell and Telus are officially on-board. That leaves Rogers, and they have been a huge BlackBerry carrier in Canada. So what’s the problem with Rogers?

Well, the Storm doesn’t support HSDPA which is the 3G network used by Rogers, and to make matters worse, the Storm also lacks WiFi which means all those cool data features will be next to useless on Rogers. However, if you only consider the huge BlackBerry collection Rogers has under its wing, then yeah, it does make sense that Rogers will offer the Storm as well. However, if you look closely at the Storm’s features, you’ll realize that it’s not actually tailor-made for the Rogers GSM network. Unless, of course, RIM has plans to release a GSM version of the Storm then that would work perfectly well on mighty old Rogers.

We’ll keep tabs on this matter until we get confirmation, but for now, treat the Rogers-BlackBerry Storm partnership as pure speculation.

finally BELL has a good phone, i bought it, and its really nice, BUT i only really recommend this phone to people who actually NEED it, dont waste your money if you dont use email and blackberry to berry paging…its more of a business phone rather than a social phone, so if you perfer something more, for the general public than i suggest the new Iphone (even then the Iphone is also for business people…but their smart and made it so its user friendly for all people).

    overall: 8.9/10 for the Storm.

    so take that Rogers…LOL

Actually contrary to what the user said above. I think the reason blackberry is doing so well these days is because they are indeed tapping into the social market. Just have a look at the amount of kids using blackberries these days…..My brother is 16 and has a blackberry messenger list of over 30 contacts. Blackberry messenger is very appealing to the younger crowd!
