We’ve seen the BlackBerry Javelin go on sale on eBay, but you might be wondering, is it actually worth buying?
Well, the guys at Crackberry answer that question with their hands-on review of a pre-release Blackberry 8900 Javelin unit. While it does look a lot like the Bold, it’s actually an upgrade to the Curve which puts it in a different class as opposed to its more powerful sibling, the Bold. With features such as a 512MHz processor, a sharp 480×360 HVGA+ display, 3.5-megapixel camera with autofocus (a first for a Blackberry device) and flash, WiFi b/g with UMA, GPS, and microSD card support, it comes as no surprise that it outshines its Curve predecessor in almost all categories and even smokes the Bold in some areas.
As you can see in the side-by-side comparison, the Javelin is a compact device and despite its small form factor, the keypad was easy to use, according to Crackberry. More photos can be found here.
So now that the we know that it’s basically better than the Curve, the only questions remaining are when it will become available and how much it will cost. The answer to those two questions is something we’ll have to look forward to in the coming months.
