AT&T-iPhone 3G usage: Low turnout

With the release of the 3G iPhone, AT&T pretty much expected an increase in their data network usage, but unfortunately for them it hasn’t happened.

Could the fault lie in AT&T’s network or on the iPhone? Personally, I’d guess both had a hand in the low 3G usage turnout, but I don’t think the number of 3G iPhone users with a faulty unit is that significant to completely drag the figures down. AT&T, for their part, should definitely try to improve their 3G network so that it will become more reliable and entice subscribers to use it.

Now, if everything were equal, let’s just say that AT&T’s 3G network is doing well and the iPhone is completely flawless and the numbers are still down, the question now is; are 3G iPhone users using 3G at all? The iPhone is probably the most data-network dependent mobile device on the market today, but are people actually using 3G networks or do they prefer the more reliable WiFi hotspots instead?

Let’s get a roll call, shall we. For you iPhone users out there, which data connection are you using the most, 3G or WiFi?
