It looks like its raining Blackberry devices all of a sudden as another new model has been spotted in the form of the clamshell 8220. It’s over at the Rogers camp and it’s now carrying the Pearl name (as opposed to the Kickstart title) which more or less justifies its $149.99 price tag. The usual 3-year lock-in period is required with a monthly charge of $35 based on the details given in leaked promotional material.
Yeah, its definitely cheaper than the BlackBerry Bold, but the change in design might turn off long-time Blackberry users who have grown accustomed to the traditional candy bar form factor. Add the fact that there’s been a spotting of the new Thunder/Storm just recently, and the 8220 might find it difficult to lure some takers. Of course, Rogers can always lower the price once they decide to make the announcement official, but something tells me it’ll stick for now.
