As they showcase a new look for their web portal, Facebook has announced that version 2.0 of their iPhone/iPod Touch app will arrive in September in the App Store. Along side the list of new features, they’ve also made available some screen shots to whet our appetite prior to it release.
Among the more notable changes in the iPhone app, the Profile page will now feature tabs similar to its web counterpart. The News Feeds will now show everything that you can be found in the website including videos, while the new Inbox will give you access to all your messages and not just the first 30 new messages. It will also take advantage of Apple’s push services to deliver Notifications even when you’re not running the app itself. Last, but not the least, Search, Request and Approve functionality is finally coming in version 2.0 which will allow you to expand your ever-growing list of Friends on the fly.
These are all welcome treats and will surely give more functionality to the app as opposed to the current state it’s in. With this new development from the Facebook camp, I wonder what MySpace is cooking up for us?
