Yep, texting isn’t is only possible with a separate plan for the new iPhone 3G at AT&T. And in Canada, Rogers isn’t going easy to the consumers either, offering unlimited visual voice mail only with free texting maxing out at 300 per month for the poshest plans. Mobilewhack, though, is thinking iPhone is making texting too expensive and wants it instead for free. Here’s what they have to say:
Here’s a trick we found showing up over the web. What you need to do is create a new email address. When composing the message make sure you complete the “To:” field with the number you want to send the SMS to like this: 1234567890@teleflip.com. Send the message and it will be delivered to the number before the @ symbol. All replies will be sent to your email address.
It’s available in Canada and the U.S. For an even easier free text, you can actually for to this site. Just be warned that I haven’t tried any of these solutions myself, so please do not take this post as a recommendation.

The hook is in Canada with Roger/Fido they ask you to subscribe to “email to SMS” service so it’s not free, doesn’t bother with these I tried them they don’t work with the notes carriers above.
WTF why do ppl write about crap that they haven’t checked out for themselves to see if it works or not.
Your attitude is despicable. This person merely wanted to help and did warn that he had not used those services.
Has anyone tried the above services? Please post feedback.
