China will issue licenses for 3G. It gave conditions to the providers, however. First, Unicom and Netcom, two of the top four wireless providers in the country has to merge. China Telecom, the nation’s largest, will also need to purchase Unicoms CDMA network. This is not very interesting news especially when experts say it will still take China a few years to implement 3G, but at least the big country is going in the right direction.
