The HTC Touch Diamond promises to be one of the most potent iPhone killers of 2008. Apple rivals are actually getting good at iPhone killing and the Touch Diamond is a well-crafted piece in the genre. The packaging of a cellphone, as you may well know, is a significant part of the mobile experience. The Touch Diamond comes in a unique pyramid-shaped package… did we dare say Apple-like?

But does it run on OS X? Feature Multi-Touch? Can it offer the world’s absolute best user interface on a mobile device? Will it achieve the highest customer satisfaction rating of any mobile phone ever? Offer the iTunes WiFi store for wireless music purchase plus thousands of movies to rent or buy? Will 200,000 eager developers download an SDK for this phone and enthusiastically write native apps for easy purchase and installation through the iTunes App store? Is it an iPod that syncs with iTunes? Is it innovative enough to be protected by 200+ patents? Will millions be smuggled into countries where it is not officially for sale in order to meet heavy demand? Will a venture capital company devote $100 million to support the development of applications for it? Will it revolutionize the industry? The answer to all of these questions is NO. Which makes it much less than “one of the most potent iPhone killers of 2008″.
I am sure that others will be able to package their new phones as well or better than Apple. Unfortunately one needs more than packaging. This may be a competitor to the current iPhone. iPhone 2.0 will be game, set and match.
No it doesn’t run on OS X, it runs on Windows mobile 6 a system open for ANYONE to write programs for. Who knows, maybe. No but you can download anything you want on a GPRS network or for free on your own wireless netwok with Wi-Fi. No but there are similar windows SDK sharing sites with ten times the number of SDKs. No it is a Windows media player 11 device which streams music wirelessly on your home network from your Xbox 360 or your PC. No that’s why it costs less. Yes. No because anyone can make an SDK for it with simple development programs like Delphi and give them away for free or at least less than a portion of $100 million. So with all these features it need not revolutionize the industry, only kill the iPhone. END OF DEBATE!
JAY.. the answer is obviously YES to all your questions!!!
dude… HTC destroys the IPHONE in all categories…

I don’t know why people are suffering with unlocking and all the blah blah with apple iphone.
I have a Pocket PC, I used a iphone theme (http://www.iphonethemeforpocketpc.com/) and everything worked like a magic to me. Now I’m having the iphone experience in my Pocket PC.
