It’s not officially released yet but iPhone 1.20 firmware has already been unlocked by the iPhone Dev Team. There are two advantages of an unlocked iPhone 2.0. First, it can operate on any network so you do not have to be tied down with an AT&T contract. Second, you can download free apps.
For people who might be under the impression that SDK in June will solve all of Apple’s and AT&T’s problems with iPhone unlockers, this is sobering news indeed. iPhone Dev Team even assures us that their 1.2.0 jailbreak will be so stable Apple will not be patch it in subsequent updates.
