If you’ve been following this blog’s coverage of iPhone clones and iPhone Killers, you will be familiar with Chinese manufacturer Meizu. Meizu is the maker or the M8, also called miniOne, phone. It’s part vaporware and part iPhone clone/ killer. There have been a lot of rumors regarding the M8, ever since Meizu unveiled it in the early months of 2007. One rumor had it that the M8 was HSDPA enabled. Another had it that it has GPS. So far, Meizu has not come out with an official version of the M8, although rumors point to a few common specifications: an iPhone-like form factor, touch screen UI and a 3 megapixel camera or higher.
No wonder the blogosphere has been waiting for the M8. It looks like the iPhone but with a few upgraded specs. One site made a startling discovery that may put a dampen on the Meizu madness. PMPToday discovered that several wholesale companies in China are already offering the M8. Of all places, these companies posted the M8, complete with specs and a photo, on Alibaba, the b2b site. Unbelievable. Read more about it here.

Very cool, can’t say I’ve heard about this yet. Any idea what Canadian carriers it would potentially work with? The web browser will be an important thing… that seems to be one of the most important technological innovations with the iPhone… the fact that us PDA/phone users don’t have to look at half-hearted looking websites any more.
