A Macmillan subsidiary, Macmillan Publishing Solutions, is betting on cellphone users being bookworms rather than, say, MP3 listeners and video watchers. The Global Reader is an e-Book software and service that will allow cellphone users not only to read book on their cellphones but also to buy them using their WAP browsers. The service has samples available for free through globalreader.wap.com.
Bango and Fli Digital also have a steak on Global Reader. They provide access to both book, newspaper and magazine titles. If you visit the site you will see only free content but when the paid service is launched you will be able to pay for content through credit card or PayPal.
