SingTel is negotiating with Apple over distributing iPhone in Thailand and in other countries in the region. SingTel is the owner of Optus, a mobile operator in Australia.
The details are a little complicated but suppose Apple deals with a regional operator for several countries. Optus spokeswoman Melissa Clare said they were in line for a talk with Apple. Apple’s European deal involves different companies for each European country. For example, in the UK, O2 gets the iPhone exclusivity while in France it’s Orange and in Germany it’s T-Mobile.
China Mobile’s and iPhone’s talk has already went through, which leaves China iPhon-less in the forseeable future. Rogers, Canada’s only GSM operator, remains mum about iPhone.
