Zipit Wireless Messenger 2In case you didn’t know, beginning December 20, you can send and receive text messages using your Zipit device. Zipit Wireless Messenger connects to the Net through WiFi and supports all the major instant messaging software like Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger and AOL and also sharing photo sharing. Of course, you can also listen to music through add-on applications on your IM software. The clamshell design targets young people and it should come as no surprise that the makers have added SMS support. The SMS is available as an option for a small fee of $4.99 a month.

Texting on the Zipit will be a little more fun than texting on a cellphone. Besides the convenient clamshell design with a QWERTY keyboard, users can engage in multiple conversations based on the existing friends list in their IM software. The texting can also blend with instant messaging supporting multiple conversations on both modes of communication. All Zipit 2 users will have the opportunity to test run the text messenging service with 10 text messages each. Additional, beginning February 1 of 2008, Z2 users can send up to 3,000 text messages for free. This is good for one month only.
